Fees and Permits- Upper Mustang Jeep Tour
Upper Mustang is well marked by official “Mustang” border signs just north of Kagbeni where police and ACAP check permits for non-Nepalese seeking to enter the region. Trekking permits for Mustang costs the US $ 500 per person for 10 days. Note that it is defined as 10 days, not nights, starting and ending at Kagbeni. Extra days are charged the extra US $ 50 per day. In order to obtain the permit, you need to have at least two members in a group. That means a single permit won’t be allowed from the immigrants.
If you are a single traveler, let us know, we can provide permits by joining you with other travelers groups. We need your original passport copy to obtain the restricted area permits.
Itinerary- Upper Mustang Jeep Tour
Day1: Arrival in Nepal
Our representative will receive you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel.
Day2: Kathmandu to Pokhara
The drive will be 6 hours to reach Pokhara and you have to travel around 200 km. After breakfast at the hotel, you will pick up from the hotel and start driving to Pokhara. En route, we will see more of the countryside of Nepal that offers greeneries, rivers, villages, farms, and beautiful mountain sceneries. Pokhara offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Machhapuchhare, five peaks of Annapurna, and others. Pokhara is a city of lakes and has numerous beautiful lakes. We can explore the most accessible and beautiful, Fewa Lake during the late afternoon -enjoy boating too.
Day3: Pokhara to Jomsom
After having your breakfast at Pokhara, today you will start your journey to Mustang. The route from Pokhara to Tatopani takes the west direction towards Beni. You will follow the Kali Gandaki riverside which is the deepest George in the world. Admiring the views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges, you will reach Tatopani. You can bathe in the natural hot water spring at Tatopani.
From Tatopani, you will drive through the local villages of Kalapani and Ghasa. After a short drive from Kalapani, you will reach the village of Marpha. You can see the beautiful Rupse fall on the way to Marpha. Then from Marpha, you will drive to Jomsom where you will be staying overnight. Jomsom is a village where you can find several local markets. You can taste the local yak cheese in Jomsom.
Day4: Jomsom to Muktinath to Lo-Manthang
From Jomsom, you will drive towards Kagbeni village. You will visit the culturally significant Muktinath temple, visit the holy temple complex of Muktinath, and the 108 taps dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Also, you will visit Jal Devi where you can see the fire lighting itself (Natural gas). After exploring the temple, you will drive to Tangbe. You will drive through the forest of alpine trees and rhododendron, exploring some of the old settlements, before you reach Chele. Along the way to Chele, you will see many Buddhist monasteries such as Kang Gompa.
Following the route through apple, barley, and wheat, you will reach Chukkung Village. Taking the route towards the north, you will cross the bridge and reach Chele. You will take a jeep drive to Chusang. From Chele, you will cross the Tangbe village to reach Chusang. From Chusang, you will drive towards Syangboche. The route involves the views of Tilicho Peak, Yakawa Kang, and Damodar Danda.
You can stop your jeep between your journey to take a rest and click some beautiful pictures. Driving through Syangboche La and Nyi La, you will take the route to Ghami. Admiring the beautiful mountain passes and unique landscapes of the region, you finally reach the village of Ghami. Then, you will drive towards Tsarang via Lo Pass crossing the Ghami river, the route takes you to a plateau crossing several Mani Walls. After a few hours of drive, you will reach Tsarang which is also known as Charang.
From Tsarang, you will drive towards the capital of Upper Mustang, Lo Manthang. Along the way to Lo Manthang, you will be able to see some of the magnificent mountains such as Mount Annapurna, Nilgiri, Tilicho, and Bhrikurti. You will cross the Lho Pass before you reach the beautiful Lo Manthang Valley.
You will be staying overnight at Lo-Manthang.
Day5: Kora-la Pass visit and return to Marpha
Early morning drive to Kora-la Pass which is popularly known as the China border after breakfast. After spending some time over there, you will drive to Marpha following the same path. While returning you will visit the sky cave named ‘Jhong’s Cave’ and Dhumba Lake.
You will reach Marpha late in the afternoon. Marpha is mostly famous for apple farming, apple pies, apple alcohol is known as ‘Marpha’, etc. You will explore this beautiful village and stay overnight there.
Day6: Marpha to Pokhara
While returning from Marpha to Pokhara, you can see Rupse Fall again. Then on the way, you can visit the Galeshwor Mahadev Temple, and Baglung Kalika temple. The longest bridge in Nepal, the Baglung bridge can also be visited.
Day7: Pokhara to Kathmandu
Have your breakfast early in the morning. Then drive to Begnas lake spend some time there and start your journey to Kathmandu.
Day8: Departure Nepal
Our representative will pick you up from the hotel and drop you at the international airport.
